In September, members of the Gallery of Artists(GOA) will be exhibiting over 100 works of art in various media including watercolor, oil, acrylic, photography, etching, stone carving, and bronze sculpture at the Irving Arts Center. The Gallery of Artists is a group of award-winning wildlife and nature artists who present their original art at various museums and arts centers around the country with a portion of sales proceeds benefitting both the venue and a selected conservation organization. GOA members featured in the Irving Arts Center exhibition are Robert Louis Caldwell, Melanie Fain, James Gary Hines II, Jan Martin McGuire, Paul Rhymer, Rachelle Siegrist, Wes Siegrist, and Dale Weiler, with special guest artist Sally Maxwell.

The exhibition opens Friday, Sept. 14 with a private artists' reception. Throughout the weekend artists will be on hand to offer demonstrations and to discuss their work.

Dale Weiler
Bringing Stone to Life
Dale will present a PowerPoint presentation of how he turns a piece of stone into a finished sculpture featuring the step by step process inside his North Carolina studio. Saturday, 10:30-11:15

Jan Martin McGuire
Evolution of an Artist
Internationally known Bartlesville artist Jan Martin McGuire will take you through her journey as a tomboy in Colorado to where she is today. She will also describe her techniques and show examples of her work reflecting nature from Africa to the Rainforests of Central and South America to the North American continent. Saturday, 12:30-1:15

Wes Siegrist
The History and Challenges of Working in Miniature
Art Historian and author, Wes Siegrist, will discuss the history and challenges of miniature art via a PowerPoint presentation. Topics will include illuminated manuscripts, miniature art societies and exhibitions and the process of painting miniature art. Saturday, 1:30-2:15

Melanie Fain
The Etching Process
A description of how Melanie Fain got started in the arts, her inspiration and an explanation of the etching process. There will be pictures of the process, Melanie working in the studio and images of her work. A question and answer session will follow. Saturday, 2:30-3:15

Robert Caldwell
It’s what’s underneath that counts
Artist Robert Caldwell answers the most-asked question about his work, “Why do you create a finished drawing and then paint over it?” Listen as Robert uncovers the history of the Flemish technique — the oldest “old master” technique in oil painting — and how his process mirrors this multi-layered method. Saturday, 3:30-4:15

James Gary Hines II
Nature Photography as Art
Internationally published nature photographer James Gary Hines will describe how he creates his fine art photographs from the use of light, composition and story telling to his hands on creation of the finished photograph on canvas back in his digital studio. Sunday, 1:30-2:15

Paul Rhymer
From Clay to Bronze
Recently retired as the head taxidermist for the Smithsonian, Paul brings a unique perspective to his work based on his deep understanding of behavior and anatomy. Through PowerPoint and hands on props Paul will explain the process of creating a sculpture from to the beginning stages of clay to the finished bronze. Sunday, 2:30-3:15

Sally Maxwell
What The Heck is Scratchboard?
Known as a Master of the scratchboard medium, Sally will walk you through the steps necessary to create a piece of artwork using it. Tools and boards will be supplied so the listener can participate and enjoy. A brief history will be explained. Sunday, 3:30-4:30
