July 12 to June 30, 2010
Carpenter Lobby

Within the Emperor’s Garden, on loan from the Smithsonian Institution, features a stunning one to five model of the Ten Thousand Springs Pavilion, the classic pavilion found within the Imperial Garden in the Forbidden City in Beijing. Hand-carved from red sandalwood and measuring nine feet tall, the model is an outstanding example of traditional Chinese carving. The exhibition also features photographs and text panels, in English and Chinese, with information about the Imperial Garden and the construction of the model. A reception and Family Funday celebrating the Ten Thousand Springs Pavilion is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. on July 12.
