Linda Beard was born in Burlington, Iowa and moved with her family to Texas in 1959. She finds Texas "enchanting" and enjoys long drives in the country with her husband, Gary. It is during her travels around Texas that she has found the inspiration for many of her paintings. Linda works in watercolors and oils, and does most of her work from photos taken on her outings. A hike that should take an hour can easily turn into three so she can stop and take photos of whatever catches her attention - be it clouds rolling in over the mountains, a deer grazing in the shadows, a glorious sunrise or sunset, a babbling brook, or a roaring waterfall. Through her paintings, she tries to share this beauty in nature with others. Linda has studied with artist Bobette Flory for a number of years and then took classes from another great artist as well as a fine art restorer, James Stegall for nine years. She has exhibited in numerous galleries across the state and has held several one-woman shows as well as had several commissioned pieces. |
