Dorothy Blalock selects florals, wildlife, landscapes and still life to express her appreciation of God's beautiful world. She works in a traditional manner in scratchboard, watercolor, colored pencil, oils and mixed media, and her paintings are in homes and offices throughout the United States. She has conducted classes and workshops throughout the Metroplex and has demonstrated her techniques to area art organizations. Her work has earned numerous awards. She attended Howard Payne College, Phillips University and studied commercial art with Famous Artists Schools. She has traveled in many areas of the United States, collecting photo references along the way.
Work for the Irving Art Association has been one of Dorothy's major free-time pursuits for many years. She has served in most of the offices for IAA including president and chair for the Texas and Neighbors Exhibition. She has been named an Irving High Spirited Citizen for her work in fundraising for the arts in Irving.
Dorothy is represented by Coppell Home Décor in Coppell, Art Too Go Gallery in Garland and Aurora Images Gallery in Allen. Her home studio is in Irving at 3722 East Devonshire Ct.
