Marilyn has been on the Irving art scene for about 45 years. She taught oil & watercolor painting at the Irving YMCA for 25 years and has also taught at North Lake College and the Center for the Arts at Jaycee Park. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a major in art. Marilyn is a signature member of Southwestern Watercolor Society and a lifetime member of the Irving Art Association. She has won several Best of Show awards over the years. In 1985 she originated the now prestigious Texas & Neighbors Regional Art Show which is now in its 18th year. Currently Marilyn is doing demonstrations on all types of greeting cards using Iris prints, folding, rubber stamping, embossing and watercolor. Marilyn also does embellishing of linens with her Janome embroidery machine. Marilyn creates watercolors and collages of florals and likes to do paintings that tell stories from her own photos and old family photographs. From her many teachers she has learned that painting "light" is important. She also has an interest in abstract collages.
