Donald Dashfield is a “Purist/Perfectionist.” His prize-winning black and white images are created in the painstaking “old-fashioned way” pioneered by Ansel Adams. Using conventional cameras he studies the light and pre-visualizes; then selects and matches film, developer, printing paper, and advanced darkroom techniques to convey his personal interpretation of each subject. Each image is custom hand-printed – sometimes taking up to seven hours before producing a print that’s just right; he then mats and frames with similar care.
All processes use high-grade professional materials, and each print is selenium-toned to increase longevity—before being matted and framed using archival gallery-quality materials. He also produces conventional (non-digital) color prints to the same standard; and color slides (for published images).
