Stan Petrosius has been involved with photography since the age of 8, when a perceptive aunt gave him a camera and, to help him while away the time while recovering from an illness, his first darkroom equipment. He pursued this interest intermittently throughout his youth and adulthood, winning his first best-of-show award at the age of 21, in a competition of the Fort Dearborn Camera Club in his home town of Chicago.

Of necessity, photography came second to Stan's career as a sales representative and executive in the food service industry. As an artist, he has been largely self-taught, though he never misses a chance to learn new photographic and computer techniques whenever and however he can. Since his retirement in 1989, he now has the time to do the kind of creative works he wants to do. He is pursuing a personal vision that has been influenced by the work of Joseph Muench, Ansel Adams, Dean Collins and by the painter Georgia O'Keefe. Being a part of TVAA has also been a great inspiration to him. Achieving Signature status was most rewarding.

Stan is a member of TVAA-Signature Member, Dallas Visual Arts, Plano Art Association, DMA, and the Texas Photographic Society.

His work has been exhibited in Richardson Fine Arts Society, TVAA Citation, TVAA Membership (Best-of-Show 1998), Navarro Council of the Arts, Lubbock Arts Society, Plano Art Association, University of Mobile, Alabama, Richardson Photography Contests, Rio Bravo Arts Festival (Granbury, TX), One Man Show sponsored by the City of Richardson at the Richardson Library, Texas Photographic Society "Governor's Show", Austin Visual Arts Association 1999, Arlington Museum of Art, Southwest Teleproduction Co., TVAA National Juried Exhibition, and TVAA Signature Member Show 2000. His work has also appeared on several calendars - Creative Type Co. and Operation Kindness contests (pets).Stan had also been requested to judge various photography contests in 1998 and 1999.

Stan has seen the future of photography, and he says it is digital!
