Session 1: Wild about Writing with Jack London
Oct. 2 to Nov. 6, 2-4 PM on Saturdays
Inspired by The Big Read, this creative writing workshop will feature thematic ties to Jack London's Call of the Wild. Writers will examine this classic story of the struggle for survival, centering on the main character's journey. Abducted from his comfortable home and sold as a sled dog, Buck learns to use his buried instincts to survive and become the leader of a wolf pack. In re-creating the world of the wild, writers will rely on their natural instincts, much like Buck from the novel, to adapt and develop their own characters in their stories.
Instructor: Pia Pulido is a freelance magazine writer, a published children’s author and an elementary school teacher at Holy Family of Nazareth School in Irving.
