Saturday School #3: Portraits: Picturing Our Selves and Others, Irving Arts Center
February 18 - March 25| $75 |Click Here to Register
Students will dive into a variety of topics built on a theme like a cultural movement, rich period of history, or a particular medium or art-making technique. They create art and memories guided by our professional teaching artists. Classes meet Saturdays in the Irving Arts Center’s ART LAB, 2 -4 p.m.. Unless otherwise specified, classes are for ages 6 – 10.
Explore the rich tradition of portraiture and how the way we depict ourselves and others shape and preserve identity and memory. Participants will learn about figure drawing and the human proportions of the face and body – then draw and paint portraits that tell stories about who we are.
Instructor: Sheila Cunningham is a fine art photographer exploring the world through cell phone photography, digital collages, Polaroid transfers and artist books. Her artwork, project designs and articles have been widely published in books and national magazines. She teaches workshops at universities and fine art centers throughout the country and exhibits her work in one-person and national juried shows.
