Special Exhibition Talk: Quanah Parker
April 9 @ 4:00 pm| Free
Please join us for a talk by historians Clara Wallace Holmes, Robert Holmes and Douglas Harman along with special guest, Lance Tahmahkera, great- great grandson of Quanah Parker on April 9 at 4 p.m.
The presentation will cover many of the dimensions of the dramatic Quanah and Cynthia Ann Parker story as documented in the photographic exhibition, Cynthia Ann and Quanah Parker: A Woman OF Two Worlds and a Man IN Two Worlds.
The Comanches became known as the “Lords of the Plains” through their effective use of the horse as a weapon of war. Cynthia Ann was taken captive as a child and eventually became a tribe member and mother of three. Her tragic story became one of the most famous stories of the Texas frontier. Her son, Quanah was the last Comanche chief to fight the U.S. Army.
