Rupal Sanghavi and Helen Le of Irving were recognized during the Aug. 12 Transportation Summit luncheon for their first place wins in the Irving Arts Center’s annual Student Transportation Art Contest.
Sanghavi won first place in the 14-17 year old age category and Le won first place in the 10-13 year old age category. Daisy Ontiveros of Irving won first place in the 6-9 year old age category.
In 2007, the Irving Arts Center developed the Student Transportation Art Contest to celebrate Irving’s role in the annual Transportation Summit. Each year Irving students are challenged to create original works of art for the contest. This year’s theme was “Global Vision: Transportation for the World.”
More than 200 works of art were submitted, and 32 works were chosen for the exhibition. The Student Transportation Art Contest will be on view in the Irving Arts Center’s Dupree Lobby through Sept. 5. Awards were presented for first through third place and honorable mention for three categories: Ages 6-9 years old, Ages 10-13 years old and Ages 14-17 years old. A full list of winners is attached.
The Irving Arts Center is located at 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75062.
