JumpstART Stories & Art

Join us the first Thursday of each month, at 10am at Irving Arts Center for stories and art!

Explore new stories and fun art projects during this creative story time that combines art and children’s literature. Create a take-home art project and then browse the galleries with your kids as part of this fun AND FREE morning activity.

Ages 2 and up. All supplies provided.

Pre-registration is required for groups of 10 or more; please call the Box Office at (972) 252-ARTS (2787).

JumpstART is a collaboration between the Irving Arts Center and the Irving Public Library.

2025 THEMES

September 4 –  Hats off to Fall!
September is National Hat Month. Let’s celebrate the changing of the seasons with a tribute to this most functional and fashionable of accessories. After story time, we’ll get creative and decorate our own headwear!

October 2 – ¡Celebramos! Bilingual Story Time!
Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with a special bilingual story time and art activity.

November 6 – Giving Thanks!
It’s all about gratitude as we prepare to celebrate the season with family and friends. What are you thankful for?

December 4 – Merry Bookmas/Season’s Readings!
Let’s get in the spirit of the season with some of ur favorite holiday stories.

January 8*  –  Let It Snow!
Brrr! Let’s cozy up for some winter weather tales & an art project inspired by the magic and beauty of a snowy day.

*Due to the New Year holiday, January’s JumpstART will be held on the second Thursday of the month, January 8 instead of on the usual first Thursday of the month. 

February 5 – V is for Valentine’s Day!
Hearts and candy, hugs and kisses. Let’s celebrate this sweet holiday!

March 5 – Hooray for Books!
March is National Reading Month. Let’s celebrate the joy of books & reading!

April 2 – Clouds and Rainbows!
Let’s hop into spring and slide down a rainbow…. Colors, clouds, and spring weather are the themes for this month’s stories and art!

May 7 – Moms Are Amazing!
We’ll read stories about mothers and families and make a sweet craft that shows we care for those who care for us!

June 4 – D is for Dinosaurs!
Let’s learn about some of our favorite creatures from the time when giants roamed the earth!

July 2 – Happy Birthday, America!
We’ll celebrate July 4^th with stories about Independence Day and a sparkly art project!

August 6 – Dog Days of Summer!
Beat the heat with stories & art inspired by our cool canine friends!

September 3 –  Things That Go!
Trucks, planes, cars and trains. This month’s theme is transportation and all things that go!
