Focus Gallery (May 14 – July 9)
An exhibition of works by Billy Hassell, juror for this year’s Texas & Neighbors exhibition will be on display in the Focus Gallery. TXN Billy Hassell is a Texas-based artist with a focus on nature, conservation and the environment who produces oil paintings, color lithographs and watercolors and exhibits in galleries in Texas, Missouri and Colorado. Hassell’s journey to becoming an artist began in Irving, where he attended Cistercian, before going on to Notre Dame, and eventually moving back to Fort Worth to work as a professional artist. Hailed for his colorful paintings which bring the experience of the outdoors into the indoor spaces where his paintings are displayed, the New York Times recently complemented his work by referring to him as “Mother Nature’s Stylist.”
