Lunch & Learn is a free monthly in-person program, held the first Tuesday of the month, from 12 noon – 1:30 p.m. at Irving Arts Center. Pouran Lashini will join us Tuesday, April 7 from noon to 1:30PM as our featured guest speaker.
Pouran will discuss her exhibition currently on view at Irving Arts Center, Touch My Soul: Paintings by Pouran Lashini. In this curated selection of artworks, she explores traditional forms rooted in her cultural identity, reimagined through a contemporary lens. The exhibit is on view through July 11 in the Carpenter Hall Gallery at Irving Arts Center.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Dr. Lashini is a Dallas-based artist who was born in Teheran and trained in Persian miniature painting and calligraphy from a young age. It is from this tradition where she developed a deep appreciation for detail, symbolism, and storytelling visual art. Her work has since evolved from the precision of miniatures to an emotional depth that embraces abstraction and contemporary elements – including the use of words as a visual and conceptual layer. Centered on color, her paintings explore contrasts of light and darkness, traditional and innovation, silence and expression – using layered pigments and movement to evoke emotion and spark dialogue.
