Civil War re-enactor and descendent of the enslaved, Joe McGill, is the man behind the Slave Dwelling Project, coming to North Texas February 28 through March 2 with a series of events hosted in Dallas and Irving. McGill will deliver a talk, Changing the Narrative: Including the Stories of the Enslaved, on February 28 at 7PM in the Dupree Theater at Irving Arts Center. The event is free to attend

Civil War re-enactor and descendent of the enslaved, Joe McGill, is the man behind the Slave Dwelling Project, coming to North Texas February 28 through March 2 with a series of events hosted in Dallas and Irving. On March 2, McGill will be at Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center helping tell The Bear Creek Story from Emancipation Through the Eyes of the Enslaved. Free tours will be offered of the site which is comprised of three historic structures which showcase the history of the Bear Creek community
