Irving Arts Center offers the perfect framework for adults and children to experience art together. Free art-making activities are held on the first Thursday of each month (JumpstART: Stories & Art) and on the second Sunday on each month (Second Sunday Funday).  Both allow children and parents to express themselves through art with all supplies provided, and current gallery exhibitions providing the inspiration.  Additional programs include Open Studio for Teens (Second Sunday of the month), Saturday School (6-week sessions for ages 6-10 held January through May) and Irving Arts Center’s quarterly homeschool program: Homeschooler Happenings. For more family fun in Irving, be sure to visit our partners at
The Irving Archives & Museum and Spark!Lab

The Irving Archives & Museum (801 West Irving Blvd) is a city-run museum dedicated to preserving and interpreting Irving’s local history while connecting it to broader state and national stories. Located in the heart of downtown Irving, the museum serves a
diverse and growing community and emphasizes exhibitions and programs that are accessible, welcoming, and rooted in lived experience.

The museum is designed with families in mind. Visitors of all ages can explore interactive exhibits, hands-on history experiences, and immersive spaces- including a flight simulator and touchable artifacts that bring the past to life. As the only Smithsonian Spark!Lab in Texas, young inventors and their families can step into the role of creator through open-ended, hands-on invention activities.

Monthly Second Saturday programs offer intergenerational activities inspired by current exhibitions, making the museum a place where grandparents, parents, and children can learn and create together. Additional family-friendly offerings include guided tours, seasonal Community Days, and special programs throughout the year.

Whether you’re discovering Irving’s story for the first time or returning to explore something new, the Irving Archives and Museum offers meaningful experiences for visitors of all ages.
