Irving Arts Center joins the theatre community in mourning the loss of Bruce Coleman, a legendary figure in the DFW arts scene whose prolific talent knew no bounds. Writing, directing, choreographing, costuming, set design, visual art… Bruce Coleman was a creative force who did it all, bringing joy to theater-goers across North Texas for many years. His loss resonates strongly here in Irving, a place he called home for several years, and where he directed many performances working extensively with MainStage Irving-Las Colinas for many years. Most recently, he directed the production of Tigers Be Still which opened this past weekend at MainStage 222 in downtown Irving and is scheduled to run through August 26.

Our hearts are broken. We are sad to share the tragic news that our dear friend Bruce R. Coleman passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening surrounded by family and friends. The echoes of his passion and brilliance will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

A guiding light that illuminated the path of countless actors, crew members, and audience members alike, his tireless dedication and unwavering commitment to the arts have left an indelible mark on MainStage Irving-Las Colinas and the wider creative community.

Bruce was a mentor, a friend, and a source of inspiration to everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him. His legacy lives on in the talents he nurtured, the stories he brought to life, and the memories he has etched into our hearts.
