Irving Arts Center will be closed to the general public this summer from June through August in order to make much-needed facility upgrades.  All programs at Irving Arts Center (including summer camp) will be paused during this time, and the box office will not be open for in-person sales. Only the Arts Center’s administrative offices will remain open during these months.  Scheduled repairs and upgrades include but are not limited to:

• Roof replacement: the current roof is out of warranty and has passed its useful life. It will be replaced with a new impact-resistant roof which be much better at resisting hail damage among other things.

• Dressing / Green Room renovation: The current dressing rooms have been in use since the early 1990’s with no upgrades. This renovation will bring in new counter tops, vanity lights and mirrors along with touchless and low-flow restroom fixtures, as well as new paint, tile, flooring, and furniture.

• Theatrical lighting replacement / upgrade: Current conventional lighting equipment will be replaced with more efficient, newer LED color-changing fixtures which will aid in keeping operational costs down.

• Replacement of HVAC roof top units: Twenty-six new energy-efficient units will be installed and will help keep cooling costs down. 

These upgrades along with some additional repairs scheduled during the summer timeframe will allow us to better serve the community, while reducing the operational costs of Irving Arts Center.
