Saturday School

Saturday School at Irving Arts Center

Classes meet on six consecutive Saturdays from 2pm-4pm from October through May. Ages 6-10. Tuition is $95 per session including supplies. Tuition for each 6-week session is $95 (art supplies included).  Art Connection members with a Smithsonian Affiliate/Family and above membership receive a 10% discount. 


Session Two: Drawing & Painting – Making an Impression 


Jan 10 – Feb 14, 2026  |  2pm-4pm  |  Ages 6-10
$95 for 6-week session (supplies included)
Instructor: VET

Young artists will create their own paintings and pastel drawings full of color, light and movement inspired by the works of the great Impressionists and Post-Impressionists including Monet, Degas and Seurat.


Session Three: Sheroes of Sculpture: Modeling Mastery



Feb 21-March 28, 2026 |  2pm-4pm  |  Ages 6-10

$95 for 6-week session (supplies included)
Instructor: VET

Groundbreaking female sculptors are the inspiration for this dive into the 3rd dimension. Students will create sculptures and reliefs (using wood, clay and found objects) based on the works of art history icons Betye Saar, Louise Nevelson, Augusta Savage and Elizabeth Catlett.


Session Four: The FUNdamentals of Printmaking 


April 5-May 10, 2026  |  2pm-4pm  |  Ages 6-10

$95 for 6-week session (supplies included)
Instructor: Sheila Cunningham

Learn the basics of printmaking using your original drawings and abstract or geometric designs to carve and create a master plate from which multiple images can be made. Finished prints can be framed or used as a cover for journals.

ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTORS

Linda Disosway
Linda is a mixed media artist and educator who teaches and exhibits throughout Dallas, Fort Worth and the surrounding areas. She has taught classes for Irving Arts Center since 1995.  

Sheila Cunningham
Sheila is a fine art photographer exploring the world through cell phone photography, digital collages, Polaroid transfers and artist books. She teaches workshops at universities and fine art centers throughout the country and exhibits her work in one-person and national juried shows.

VET
VET, a recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts award, is a native Texas artist who incorporates environmental recycling awareness through her artwork, commissions and various workshops.
